1. Who we are

Wycombe Community Seventh-day Adventist Church ("we", "our", "the church") is the data controller for the personal information collected through this website. We are located at High Wycombe, HP11 2LU, United Kingdom, and are part of the South England Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

2. What data we collect

  • Contact form submissions: name, email, phone (optional), subject, message.
  • Prayer requests: name (optional), message. Marked confidential.
  • Testimonies: name (or "Anonymous"), content.
  • Improvement suggestions: name (optional), category, message.
  • Newsletter signups: email address.
  • Donations: handled by our payment provider — we do not store card details.
  • Technical data: basic server logs (IP address, browser, pages visited) retained for 30 days for security.

3. Why we collect it

  • To respond to your messages and pastoral/prayer requests.
  • To send you church news if you sign up for our newsletter.
  • To process donations and issue Gift Aid receipts where applicable.
  • To keep the website and our members safe from abuse.

Our lawful bases under UK GDPR are consent (newsletter, optional communications) and legitimate interest (pastoral care, site security).

4. How long we keep it

Contact form messages are retained for a limited period (default 12 months) after which they are automatically deleted unless they are part of active pastoral care. Newsletter subscribers are kept until they unsubscribe. Donation records are kept for 7 years to meet HMRC Gift Aid requirements.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We may share it with:

  • Our payment processor (for donations only).
  • Google Cloud Storage (where website media is stored).
  • HMRC (for Gift Aid claims only).
  • Law enforcement if legally required.

6. Cookies

This site uses only essential cookies (to remember that you've accepted this notice, and to keep admin users logged in). We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. Embedded YouTube videos may set cookies when you play them — see Google's privacy policy.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Withdraw consent at any time (e.g. unsubscribe from the newsletter).
  • Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

8. Children

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 through this website. Parents or guardians who want to register a child for children's ministry activities should contact us directly.
